Policies & Procedures
Check In: Clients will be met at our Girdwood tour office by our guide staff upon arrival. Clients will be outfitted with snow boots, full snowmobile suit, gloves and a helmet. Once clients have signed a standard liability release form and fully suited up, we will transport them from our Girdwood tour office to the snowmobile tour trailhead in a new 15-passenger 4x4 van (about a 15 minute transfer). Note: Alaskan Explorer and Early Season clients will be met at their hotel.

Orientation: At the snowmobile trailhead, we will provide a 15-minute safety briefing and orientation to snowmobiling. Topics covered will be proper operation of the snowmobile, general safety information, what to expect while on the tour route, procedures for possible wildlife encounters, and information on proper snowmobile riding techniques.

Inclusions: Snowmobile tour pricing includes snow boots, snowsuit, helmet, gloves, transfer to trailhead from our office in Girdwood, orientation to snowmobile operation and safety information, guided snowmobiling, fuel & oil, hot chocolate break and friendly, patient guide services throughout the entire trip. Guide gratuities are not included in tour price. (Note: clients are financially responsible for physical damage they may cause to the snowmobile due to careless or negligent operation).

Reservations: Due to limited capacity, advance reservations are highly recommended. A credit card is required to confirm and hold your reservation at time of booking. Payment is due upon check-in at our office prior to tour departure and may be handled with cash, check, Visa, M/C or Discover Cards. A 50% cancellation fee will be assessed if reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of departure.

Girdwood Office: Our winter tour office is located at the base of Mt. Alyeska Ski resort, approximately a 45 minute drive south of Anchorage. From Anchorage, drive 35 scenic miles south on the Seward Highway. Go left from the highway into the Girdwood Valley, (the Girdwood Valley turn is well marked). Drive 4 miles up the Alyeska Highway until you get to the very base of the Alyeska Ski Resort. Go left at 'T' at the base of the ski resort and then take your first right onto 'Olympic Circle'. The Alaska Snow Safaris log cabin tour office is located 100 yards up Olympic Circle on the left side.

Anchorage Office: Head south on the Seward Highway, take the Diamond exit and turn left under the Seward Hwy. Take another left, heading north onto Brayton Dr. (Seward Hwy. Frontage Rd.). The Alaska Snow Safaris Anchorage office is next to Alaska Power Sports on the right.

Transportation: Round trip transportation between Anchorage and Girdwood is available for an additional $40 per person, (minimum of 4). Please call our office for pickup times and additional transfer information.

Physical Limitations: It is not necessary that clients have previous snowmobiling experience prior to participating in one of our tours. Riding a snowmobile is, as a general rule is more challenging than driving a car because it requires coordinated physical input such as leaning and moving on the seat to assist the snowmobile in turning. Drivers need to be prepared to heed the advice of their guide and use their body to be actively involved with the steering and driving of the snowmobile for proper operation. Please note that the maximum amount of weight a double-rider snowmobile can accommodate is a total of 300 pounds for both participants. If the clients combined weight is over 300 pounds, we recommend they ride single.

We look forward to working with you. Please call our office at 907-783-7669 or email for additional information or clarification. Thank you!
