Located 40 miles (64 km)
southeast of Anchorage via the Seward Highway along the scenic Turnagain
Arm is the small alpine ski village of Girdwood. Nestled among the
broad-shouldered Chugach mountains and surrounded by hanging glaciers,
Girdwood was once a gold mining outpost. Now you’ll find a bustling
community of 2,000 with a luxury hotel and ski resort, ski shops, excellent
restaurants, unique Alaskan gift shops and watering holes full of local
color.
The riding in the Chugach Mountains is world class. With an
average of over 50 feet (15 m) of snowfall each season, it is hard to
compare!
Travel the Placer Valley
and visit two glaciers before navigating your way into the Grandview
Valley. Hit Turnagain Pass for some great climbs and watch as videographers
capture the pros pulling extreme snowmobiling stunts for future movies.
Visit Seward and the challenging Lost Lake Trail before climbing above tree
line for some great views of breathtaking Resurrection Bay. Catch your
breath again while riding some of the best bowls and rowdiest terrain in
the state!
Girdwood tours are only available when snow conditions
are sufficient enough for the Forrest Service to authorize
entry. This can change on a daily basis.
